News: 14 hours agoMcBride remains listed as the Cardinals' No. 1 tight end on the team's second unofficial depth chart of training camp, Jeremy Cluff of The Arizona Republic reports.

Spin: Oftentimes, NFL depth charts in August are merely guesses by team media relations staffs as to where players stand, but in the case of McBride there's little question regarding his status in the Cardinals offense. Not only is he Arizona's top tight end, he'll be among the top targets for QB Kyler Murray in 2024 alongside first-round rookie WR Marvin Harrison, second-year WR Michael Wilson and RB James Conner. In the eight games in which Murray was under center last season, McBride, a 2022 second-rounder, posted two 100-yard efforts en route to a 53-538-2 line on 66 targets. Such numbers extrapolated across a 17-game slate would place McBride in elite company at his position league-wide for fantasy purposes.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: McBride put together a breakout sophomore effort, leading all Arizona pass-catchers in targets (108), receptions (81) and yards (825). The Colorado State product averaged more than eight targets per contest from Weeks 8 through 18, after Zach Ertz was placed on injured reserve and eventually waived. McBride quickly earned Kyler Murray's trust, drawing a team-high five end zone looks and recording a catch rate of 80% over the final eight games of the season. He figures to remain an integral part of the Cardinals' aerial attack heading into 2024.
