News: 2 days agoCoach Mike Tomlin said Thursday that Wilson and the first-team offense will play roughly four series during Saturday's preseason game against the Bills, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.

Spin: Tomlin said that the extent of Wilson's reps could change depending on Saturday's game, noting that "it's not etched in stone." Wilson is on track to start in his preseason debut for the Steelers, per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com, but he and Justin Fields have continued to split first-team reps at practice. In fact, Pryor reports that Fields opened Thursday's practice with the first-team, an indication that this remains a true quarterback competition, though Wilson is still atop the depth chart.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Wilson is entering his 13th season and the league, and he signed a one-year deal in free agency with the Steelers. He is a very instinctual thrower who finished as QB13 in fantasy last season. Wilson will compete with Justin Fields for the starting job in a pass game under new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith that will be play-action based. Last season in Denver, Wilson completed 67.3% of his play-action passes, including 11 touchdowns. However, given his declining play speed outside of the pocket, and the expected run-heavy approach in Pittsburgh, Wilson's fantasy ceiling is limited to the lower-tier QB2 range if he sticks as Pittsburgh's starter this season.
