Men's Bracketology: 2025 NCAA Tournament
There is no longer an offseason in college basketball. With more than 1,800 Division I players changing teams, the majority of programs are dependent on the transfer portal to stock and restock their rosters each spring. The resulting tumult creates wide swings in projected performance for the following year, and we're here to track it for you with monthly bracket updates until opening night on Nov. 4.
Bracket Watch
Cooper Flagg and Duke have grabbed all the offseason attention, but it might be that North Carolina is the favorite when the ACC conducts its preseason poll in October. The Tar Heels have risen to a No. 2 seed in our latest projection, and the reason is a solid veteran core that ranks among the best in the country. It starts with super senior R.J. Davis. The fifth-year sniper is a legitimate player of the year candidate both in the conference and nationally. And he'll be complemented by a pair of experienced transfers in 6-foot-7 junior wing Cade Tyson (Belmont) and 6-foot-8 junior forward Ven-Allen Lubin (Vanderbilt). Sophomore point guard Elliot Cadeau should be ready for the second-year leap, and three ESPN 100 freshmen -- Drake Powell, Ian Jackson and James Brown -- round out a rotation that could very well equal that of their Durham rivals. The ACC schedule expands to 180 games this season, but it comes as no surprise which two figure to matter most.
