News: 2 days agoCoach Dave Canales said Thursday that there were "big concerns" when Hubbard (knee) went down at practice "but initial testing looks good," Kassidy Hill of the Panthers' official site reports.

Spin: Hubbard was looked at by trainers after taking a hit at practice, per Steve Reed of the Associated Press, and while the fourth-year pro got up and remained near the field, he didn't resume handling reps. It looks like initial tests haven't indicated an overly severe issue, but that Panthers will doubtless continue to monitor Hubbard's health. He sat out last week's preseason opener against New England and figures to also be held out of Saturday's exhibition matchup against the Jets.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Hubbard replaced Miles Sanders as the feature back for the worst offensive team in the league last season, finishing with 902 rush yards and five touchdowns. However, he wasn't exactly efficient in doing so, ranking in the 30s in explosive-run rate, forced missed tackles and yards after contact. Add in the fact that things are still a bit cloudy in Carolina with new head coach Dave Canales, along with the fact they drafted Jonathon Brooks with the 46th pick in the draft, and it's not hard to see Hubbard's fantasy value taking a hit. He'll be worth only a midround pick, if Brooks (ACL recovery) misses time to open the season as expected.
